Estimate the sum: 5290 + 17986 by rounding off to nearest thousands.

Calculation Steps:

  1. 1Round 5290 off to nearest thousand: 5290 lies between 5000 and 6000, rounds to 5000.
  2. 2Round 17986 off to nearest thousand: 17986 lies between 17000 and 18000, rounds to 18000.
  3. 3Add estimated values: 5000 + 18000 = 23000.
