Passage Text

Honeybees are tiny insects, but they play a giant role in our environment. As they fly from flower to flower searching for sweet nectar, they carry pollen on their bodies. This process is called pollination. Pollination is necessary for plants to grow fruits, vegetables, and seeds. In fact, about one-third of the food we eat depends on bees for pollination. Sadly, bee populations have been declining rapidly. This is due to pesticide chemicals, climate change, and loss of green spaces. Without bees, many crops would fail, leading to food shortages. We can help save bees by planting colorful flowers in our gardens, avoiding harmful pesticides, and protecting natural wild spaces.
