The Great Pyramid of Giza is one of the oldest monuments in the world. Located in Egypt, it was built more than 4,500 years ago. It was constructed as a tomb for the Pharaoh Khufu. For over 3,800 years, it was the tallest man-made structure in the world. Thousands of workers spent about twenty years building it. They used huge limestone blocks, each weighing thousands of pounds, to build the structure. How they moved these blocks without modern machinery is still a mystery. Today, visitors from all over the world travel to Egypt to see this ancient wonder. Scientists continue to study the pyramid to discover its secrets.
