The internet is a global network that connects billions of computers and smart devices together. It allows people to share information, talk to friends, watch videos, and play games. When you open a website on your device, a request is sent across wires and wireless signals to a special computer called a server. The server stores the website's files. Once the server gets your request, it sends the website's images and text back to your screen in small pieces called packets. This entire process happens in less than a second. Cables laid under the ground and deep in the oceans make it possible for data to travel across continents instantly, making the world highly connected.
