Syllabus Guidelines & Introduction

Article writing is an expression of one's personal opinions or thoughts on a specific topic, presented in a structured layout suitable for newspapers, journals, or magazines.

Formatting Layout Blocks

Headline

A catchy, brief title that immediately indicates the topic (e.g. Save Water, Save Life).

Byline

Stating the author's name, placed directly below the headline (e.g., By Rohan Sen).

Introduction Paragraph

Hook the reader, define the topic, and state the current scenario/problem.

Body Paragraphs (1-2)

Discuss causes, effects, statistics, advantages, or disadvantages of the issue.

Concluding Paragraph

Provide concrete solutions, recommendations, or a final appeal to the public/authorities.

Essential Rules to Follow

  • Catchy Headline: The title should spark curiosity. Keep it under 6 words.
  • Byline placement: Do not forget the byline. In examinations, it holds a specific mark allocation.
  • Logical flow: Use linking words (Furthermore, Consequently, In contrast) to guide the reader through your arguments.
