Formatting Layout Blocks
Topic Sentence
States the main idea clearly, serving as a hook and defining the scope of the paragraph.
Supporting Sentences
Provide evidence, examples, facts, or explanations to develop the topic sentence.
Concluding Sentence
Summarizes the main point, links back to the topic sentence, or provides a final transition thought.
Essential Rules to Follow
- •Unity: Focus every sentence in the paragraph strictly on the single central theme introduced by the topic sentence.
- •Coherence: Arrange details logically and use transitional phrases (e.g., in addition, however, consequently) to ensure a smooth flow.
- •Length: Maintain a balance, typically aiming for 5 to 8 sentences or 100-150 words.
